A perspective to Real estate

It just crossed my mind that everybody wants to talk about common man but never want to be one. Whomever I have met are nurturing some or other ambitions. Rather, some just expand on what they have achieved. Always there has been a confusion about a common man - income parameter, lifestyle parameter or, just a majority attitude? I feel pity on myself that I always drift from established standards as, I believe no standards are there to remain for ever.
Taking the relevance to community settlements and 'affordability' again, people conveniently overlook the 'ambitions' of common man and only understand the 'need'. It is seldom seen that a settlement has 'future' flexibility planned ahead of time that will become 'need' of the community therein.
There are incidents when realtors have ignored cross - segment development and, created something that is not 'sustainable' for the community to be. It would be so much good to the emerging development trends in India that we all remember the 'needs of development' along with the  profits, and take such capital extensive ventures in a nation building perspective. Actually that is what it is going to be next decade, what we are planning now.

Technology and Life

There are few people like Steve Jobs who do not spoil their talent by education. Life is meant to give so much that one can forget about additional tools. What is important is that we know our priorities. An entrepreneur gets more than one opportunity to do what he wants to do and, otherwise also happiness comes as he is NOT doing what he hates. It is seen that more often than not the technology comes through a mind that is in search of simplicity and, such a mind is being persuasive. I have been wondering so many times why people want to achieve so many things when they can not figure out what is that ONE thing that they want. Technology as applied to life processes need to be more simple and Unique. If we look in to our history, we will find one invention making all that change for decades to come and economies redefining itself. Similarly One though changes someones life for ever and, one relationship provides all that happiness that is desired. The invention of life is surely in death, as Steve said. Realization of death in life possibly be the biggest motivator and, technology propelling happiness flowing.

Affordable housing

Last week attended a conference on the subject. Was thinking how sharing of thoughts drive change. It really was amazing to see most of the participants were worrying about cost of construction. Some realized it is cost of land and others were also pondering on the living costs.
I just asked myself, is Urban development all about buildings? Surely not. The famous quote - 'We make buildings then they shape us' could be corrected to ' We make cities and then they shape us'. How can a person live in buildings? How can a Socially Good person live in buildings? We will have to afford them to be near us otherwise we will end up creating social cleavage of millions of people. Cost of land is market driven and imaginary as, there is no input cost to Land. It is a matter of time before we create a huge problem while trying to solve another. One needs to understand the significance of Living Together. A down market location can  not be 25-50 kms away from up market. It is Unaffordable by the UP Market people.
